Join the Pier One Theatre team!

Pier One Theatre is a primarily volunteer organization. We strive to involve the community in all aspects of theatrical production. Volunteers direct, perform, build sets, sell tickets, sew costumes, and the list goes on! Would you like to join us? Please fill out the volunteer interest form, and submit it to our office. We will let you know when opportunities arise that match your area of interest. We are excited to work with you!

When we have specific volunteer needs, we will post them here!

A letter from Nancy Lander

Front of House Volunteer Coordinator:

“My name is Nancy Lander and I am Pier One Theatre's Front of House (FOH) Volunteer Coordinator. In this position I am a Volunteer myself, however I bring a wealth of experience running  Volunteer programs. Locally I ran Volunteer programs at South Peninsula Women's Services (now Haven House) in the 1980s, the Hospice of Homer program in 1989-1990 and programs in Anchorage before school and in St Louis after graduation from Social Work School in 1983. Advocacy, Empowerment and Administration were my training and passion, and I am impressed with the way Pier One Theatre has always empowered people by offering opportunities to stretch and grow and be involved with their community. Volunteers at Pier One are not  an "ad-on" or after thought. This is community theatre primarily fueled by volunteers with a support crew of paid staff. My part is keeping the shows staffed with Volunteer Ushers, Concessionaires and Box Office staffers. But folks who do this may well also help out with acting, wardrobe, directing, sets, office assistance or tech to name a few. Skills can be learned and much fun can be had as a Volunteer for Pier One Theatre plus as a FOL Volunteer you get "paid" every time you volunteer with getting to see the show. So please consider joining us, but be warned: Starting out as a FOH Volunteer can lead to other Pier One adventures! I hope it will. But if, like me, all you need is FOH: that is fine too.  Get involved - you will be happy you did. “
