Ginger Drais

BOARD MEMBER

Ginger had her first and ultimate performance on stage as Turkey Lurkey in Kindergarten, many years ago. This performance, while cementing her desire to remain off-stage, was the beginning of a life-long love of theatre, and more specifically, community theatre. Ginger is a consummate audience member as well as an on-going volunteer at Pier One and is amazed by the talent, dedication, and time commitments the Pier One staff and a wealth of community members devote to all aspects of theatre. Homer is well known for the arts and artists, and Pier One is essential to the art scene that is a major draw for tourism, and the reason so many of us choose to live and thrive at the end of the road. Ginger’s professional background was as a Teacher of the Deaf. Since 1982 she has traveled the state teaching, training, and advocating for students with special needs. She has served on the state-wide board for Planned Parenthood, on Frontier Community Service Board as a liaison between board and staff, and has been on various advisory boards working for equality of opportunity, including PFLAG. Additionally, Ginger is an active volunteer for Hospice of Homer.
