When two actors with a history are thrown together as romantic leads in a forgotten 1930s melodrama, they quickly lose touch with reality as the story onstage follows them offstage.

  • A woman - SHE - in her mid-forties. Plays the role of Ada Wilcox

  • A man - HE - in his mid-forties. Plays the role of Johnny Lowell

  • A director, ADRIAN SCHWALBACH

  • KEVIN, the reader, also plays the understudy and the doctor and the butler

  • The HUSBAND

  • ANGELA - An actress in her early twenties who can believably play a teenager - plays the MAID in Act I and ANGELA in Act II

  • An actress in her late twenties or early thirties, plays MILLICENT in Act I and LAURIE in Act II
